| Erika's Story |
| I became a foster child at the age of 14. My mother and I just had usual teen daughter and mother differences that
led to my adoption by my god mother. I didn’t come from a bad home, I just couldn’t seem to find a common ground for me and my mother to agree and get along with and adoption was
my result. What I can say is that I believe that God puts us in situations and puts us through many trials and tribulations to become who we are. I thank God for this opportunity because
it has made me a better person, I have been able to help young people in my situation, and my mother has become my best friend. Would I change a few mistakes I made, no because
without them I wouldn’t be where I am today.

| How has having a laptop helped you in school? |
| Being in this program and getting the opportunity to win a laptop has been a dream and such a relief. Without it I wouldn’t of made it for two years and 5 semesters. I am able to get all my papers, excel, power point projects accomplished in time for class.

| What are your plans after graduation? |
| This fall in 2011, I’ll be receiving my associate’s degree, and already applied to attend IUP/CCAC for fall 2011
to start on my bachelor’s degree. During this journey I plan on opening my own business, with meeting,s business plans, a committee, grants, and looking into profit and non-profit
organizations to help me get started. I want to open a senior citizen daycare; dedicated to the ones we love most our grandparents, uncles and aunts, mothers and fathers. Most importantly
with the drive, education, support and overall passion I can do anything I set my mind to. |
